Podcast

Hi everyone,

I saw that our podcast grade was 50 out of 100 due to some strange issues.
1. There were missing voice tracks (these were all there when I mixed the track down, not sure what happened).
2. The submitted file was a WAV file rather than an MP3. When I looked at bullet 7 under the module it said be sure to convert it to a WAV file before submitting. At the bottom of the page it says convert to MP3. This is something I see as both my fault for not reading below and the instructor (assignment creator's) fault for having misleading information. Further, when I attempt to convert it to an mp3 it tells me that I need some additional library available from Audacity. If you have any idea what this is let me know.

I contacted Sharon earlier this week, but haven't heard back... I'm not sure why. Are we supposed to send emails to her Western account or some other form? Anyhow, my email asked if we could resubmit the file again. Like I said, it's perfect on my computer so I'm not sure what happened during mix-down.

Sorry for the mix up, hopefully someone will actually contact me and explain these issues with me, rather than blow off my attempt at communication.

-John

  1. I still haven't heard back from Sharon, it's been a week now. Not sure why emails aren't returned. I also contacted David, since he is "following" this blog. I haven't heard back from him either. So much for communicating and collaboration.

  2. John I haven't received any emails from you, and believe me that i check them daily, regarding to your issue, usually Sharon allows for second tries of almost any kind of submission, but since you are doing it from e-learning it may be a little different, it's weird that Sharon haven't e-mail you back, but it may be the same case as me, I didn't knew about it until I saw the post.

    1) about the missing tracks that is your responsibility to make sure they are in order and listen to the final product before submit it.

    2) It was specified when I talked about the podcast that it was an mp3 file, and it still is in the EDT 3470 website http://www.wmich.edu/edtech/edt3470/week10.html

In the computers in the Lab have it installed and ready to export mp3 files, however it may be true that we didn't explain enough that if doing it from a personal computer a plug-in was necessary (available from the audiacity website: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/faq?s=install&item=lame-mp3

Again, it was today that knew about your issue, and I will talk to Sharon about it.
